- Classes require a 4 student minimum 8 student maximum (up to the discretion of the tutors).
- Current classes are based on tutor availability.
- Registered students’ names are in bold print. Classes are first come, first served.
- K-3 core classes are integrated with the primary subjects of Math and Language Arts and count as a full block.

Our Mission:
Calvary Chapel Hybrid Education Cooperative, CCHEC, is a non-denominational tutorial cooperative committed to providing a Christ-centered educational opportunity to both challenge and encourage students to grow academically, socially, and spiritually. All courses emphasize a Biblical worldview that honors and glorifies our Lord Jesus Christ.
COURSE OFFERINGS:
Thank you for taking an active role in your child’s academic program. This booklet contains the list of course offerings available at CCHEC. All courses are subject to student enrollment and tutor availability, requiring a minimum of 4 students per class and a maximum of 8 students based upon tutor discretion.
TUITION:
ACADEMIC CLASSES $350 per year/ per class
ELECTIVES $300 per year/ per class
Elementary blocks include 2 half hour offerings with the exception of some electives.
FEES: Additional fees will apply for certain courses that require the purchase of student workbooks or other curriculum materials

ELEMENTARY COURSE DESCRIPTION
Elementary Grades: (K--1nd ) (2nd —3rd) (4th –5th )
Course description:
Students will be encouraged to learn core subjects throughout their day, including, Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Electives are available to all grade levels. Much of the curriculum will be intergraded to help students grasp core concepts within multiple activities that promote and develop literacy and critical thinking skills. Weekly lesson plans will be sent home to continue work for the remainder of the week. Because this is an intergraded curriculum, it is recommended to attend a full day. Each one-hour block counts as a full course for k-3. Grades 4/5 are full hour courses.
Electives include Art, Music, Physical Education, and Health.

JUNIOR HIGH COURSE DESCRIPTION
Junior High School Grades: 6th -8th
LITERATURE

Course description:
This course is designed to integrate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through a thematic approach. The aim is to produce high-level readers who love literature and are able to respond to it analytically through respectful discussion and eloquent writing. Grammar and mechanics are studied formally to provide students with a common vocabulary with which to discuss their writing with teachers and peers.

General Math (6th/7th)
Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to help develop the math skills necessary to succeed in the high school mandated math classes, starting with place value and numeration before moving into more complex skills.
Pre-Algebra(7th/8th)
Course description:
This course is designed to build upon concepts taught in Math 7th grade. PreAlgebra is intended to provide a general review of basic concepts such as integers, rational numbers, equations, number theory, and ratio/proportions. At the end of the year, Algebra topics such as geometry, polynomial, and linear equations will be explored.

Course description:
Geology, Oceanography, Meteorology and Astronomy are the four areas (spheres) of study covered in this course.

God’s character is revealed in the Earth He has created. It is only natural that we study all of the science courses in which we offer to better understand the character of God which is the ultimate goal for us as creatures of His creation. To accomplish this, all science curriculum will be taught from a biblical worldview.

Course description:
This course is a full year, high school credit course that is intended for the student who has successfully mastered the core algebraic concepts covered in the prerequisite course, Pre-Algebra. Within the Algebra I course, the student will explore basic algebraic fundamentals such as evaluating, creating, solving and graphing linear, quadratic, and polynomial functions.
Algebra II (Grade: 11th/12th pre-requisites: Algebra I and Geometry)
Course description:
This course, designed for students who have completed Algebra I, will provide one high school math credit. Topics covered will include quadratic equations, polynomials, complex numbers, logarithms and trigonometry. Students will learn to solve algebraic functions and graph them. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to advance to precalculus.
Geometry (Grade: 10th Prerequisite: Algebra I)
Course description:
Geometry includes all topics in a typical high school geometry course along with formal proofs: lines and angles, congruence, parallel lines, area, perimeter, similarity, right triangle trigonometry, circles, geometric solids, and non-Euclidean geometries. Students learn how to apply and calculate measurements of lengths, heights, circumference, areas, and volumes. In addition, students build on this inductive foundation by developing and applying logical deductive thought to develop proof patterns and mathematical arguments. Through guided discovery, the student will work with key geometry theorems and proofs with the focus on the development of critical thinking skills.
Consumer Math (Grade: 12th )
Course description:
This course covers concepts such as buying, insuring, and maintaining a car; social security tax; creating and balancing a budget; renting a home; buying food and clothing; tax forms; and affording leisure time. These principles will give your child sound, Biblical views for managing his/her own money. Use the model problems and practice exercises to help your child understand the value of money and how to use it wisely.

Students will study the beginning of nations at the Tower of Babel, the formation of republican government in Rome, the effect of exploration from Europe, and the consequences of Communism in Russia. Upon successful completion of the course, students will have a firm grasp of world events and cultures.

Writing Workshop (Grades: 6th-8th)
Course description:
Students will develop and build strengths in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar and test taking strategies and study skills, as well as to develop and enhance their communication skills. This course is primarily project based. Students will develop a writing portfolio. Follows MLA FORMAT. Typing is required. (No text required)

Students will learn to write different types of essays while building test taking strategies and study skills. Journaling and classroom projects are used to promote critical thinking skills and understanding the communication aspects of literacy. Sewing Basics (Grades: 4th-12th)
Course description:
No experience needed! Students will learn to use an electric sewing machine. Some projects will include pillows, potholders, pants, and eventually advance to quilting. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine however some machines will be provided. Students are required to bring their own fabrics, thread, etc.
Sewing Clothing (Grades 7th-12th) pre-requisite basic sewing)
Course description:
Students will learn how to use patterns and develop techniques unique to clothing design. Depending on the student’s ability, projects will be determined based on results from basic sewing. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machine; however, some machines will be provided. Students are required to bring their own fabrics, thread, patterns, etc.
Music (Grades: 3rd-5th ) (6th -12th )
Course description:
Music is an integral part of Christian Worship. It is important for students to learn the fundamental elements of music through singing and playing instruments, as well as, for developing listening, responding, and creating skills. Students will also learn about the important cultural and historic nature of music, learn to identify significant composers and time periods, and the basic elements applied to understanding music application.

Choir/Singing (Grades: 6th-12th)
Course description:
The major emphasis of this course is to develop student achievement through singing and vocal production. The course develops the skills necessary for ensemble singing of simple choral literature appropriately arranged for junior and senior high school voices, develops skills in reading music notation, and provides opportunities for growth in the understanding of musical elements as applied to the music performed in worship.
Basic Worship Guitar/Keyboard (Grades: 4th-12th)
Course description:
Students will learn basic guitar skills such as tuning, finger placement, basic music theory and chords. With regular and consistent practice students will gain confidence as they learn to play the guitar/piano in a fun way. Students MUST have a guitar and guitar tuner. Students will perform at the end of each semester. Class limited to 8 students.
Phys ED/Health (Grades: 6th-12th)
Course description:
Students will learn to take care of their bodies the way God intended. Part of the class will be spent on the lesson and the other part will be doing physical activities. Athletic clothing and sneakers may be required for specific activities throughout the year. (No text required for health)
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
The following courses are REQUIRED in grades 9th-12th to graduate from a homeschool program.

- 2 years of Arts and Humanities: (Art, Music, Foreign Language, Practical Living, Bible, etc)

After meeting the minimum graduation requirements of 15 credits as outlined above, there are no additional requirements for a General Diploma
Other options: You may choose to obtain an Academic Diploma, Academic Diploma with Honors, or an Academic Diploma with Specialization or a General Diploma with Specialization.
