The Attic

Youth Leader Application

Our mission is to create a space for 7th–12th grade students to discover their true identity in Christ, deepen their faith, and learn how to live out their Christian convictions in today’s world. Through authentic relationships, biblical teaching, and leadership development, we aim to cultivate a generation of young men and women who not only understand the Bible as a love story, but who are empowered to live it out with passion, purpose, and integrity.
Hey, we’re super pumped that you're interested in being part of the team! 🙌 Before you jump in, take your time filling out this application. Answer from the heart—there are no wrong answers here. We’re all about genuine and authentic responses that show us where you’re at in your journey. We believe in developing leaders just as much as we do students, and we’re excited to hear your story. 😊

Please take the time to give thoughtful, adequate answers—we read through each one carefully and want to get to know the real you. This is your chance to share your heart with us, and we can’t wait to see what God’s doing in your life! đŸ™đŸ”„

Youth Leadership Team Expectations

As a Youth Group leader, you’re stepping into a position of responsibility and influence. These expectations are designed to guide you in your role, ensuring that you’re serving, leading, and growing alongside our students in the best possible way. Here’s what’s expected of you:

Youth Nights (Wednesdays 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM)

  • Regular Attendance: Leaders are expected to attend youth group regularly or as scheduled.
  • Active Participation: Participate actively in games, worship, discussion, prayer, and fellowship.
  • Engage with Students: Take time to build connections with students, be present, and offer encouragement. Your presence is key to creating a welcoming environment.

Events & Camps

  • Event Attendance: Leaders should attend at least 3 events per year (lock-ins, retreats, etc.).
  • Event Leadership: Assist in leading events, whether that’s in big group settings or smaller groups.
  • Student Interaction: At events, camps, and trips, leaders should actively interact with students, providing support, encouragement, and building relationships.

Relationship with Students

  • 1-on-1 Connection: Ask yourself, “Who is God calling me to pour into this year?” Leaders should intentionally invest in students, getting to know them both inside and outside of church.
  • Communication: If you’re meeting with a student outside of church (coffee, hangouts, etc.), make sure to communicate that with the leadership team.
  • Prayer: Commit to praying for students and their families regularly.

Team Building

  • Monthly Meetings: Leaders are expected to attend monthly team meetings to stay connected and aligned with the vision of the ministry.
  • Event Involvement: Attend scheduled events as a team, helping in planning and executing.
  • Shared Burden: Leaders share in the burden of the ministry—whether it’s big or small, every task counts.
  • Vision Sharing: Actively contribute your ideas, input, and feedback to help fulfill the vision of the youth ministry.
  • Giftedness: Use your gifts to serve the team and students in meaningful ways.
  • Prayer for One Another: Leaders are to regularly pray for and support each other in leadership.

Personal Expectations

  • Church Attendance: Leaders should be actively involved in church life, attending services and engaging in the broader community.
  • Walk with Jesus: It’s crucial that leaders have an active, growing relationship with Jesus—this should be evident in your words, actions, and lifestyle.
  • Accountability: Leaders must be held accountable in their walk with God. Stay committed to regular check-ins with other leaders or a mentor for spiritual growth and personal accountability.

As a volunteer with the Attic Youth Group, you are committing to live a life that sets a positive example for the students you serve. To help create a safe, supportive, and godly environment for our youth, we ask that you uphold the following values with integrity.

We request that you abstain from alcohol, drugs, and smoking while serving with us. While these behaviors are not inherently sinful, many of our students have experienced negative effects from them—either personally or within their families. We ask that you be mindful of your influence and choose to model a lifestyle that promotes health and wholesomeness.

Similarly, we ask that you commit to sexual purity and refrain from engaging in pre-marital sex. We believe that honoring God with your body and living in accordance with His design for relationships is vital in setting an example for the youth you are mentoring.

This commitment is not just between you and the youth group; it is also between you and God. We encourage you to maintain the highest level of integrity in your personal life, knowing that your example impacts the lives of others. If you ever find yourself struggling with any of these commitments, we ask that you come to the leadership team for support. We would rather you step down from your leadership role than compromise your integrity or hide these behaviors.

Being a leader in the youth ministry is a privilege and a responsibility. You are not only helping to shape the lives of the students you serve but also growing and maturing in your own faith along the way. These expectations are here to keep you grounded, encouraged, and focused on what matters most—serving God and helping others grow in their faith. Let’s make it count! 🙌

Final Questions

Being a Youth Leader requires dedication, and that’s why I’m asking you to prayerfully consider making a one-year commitment to The Attic. I’m asking you to give it your all, as much as you can. In return, I promise to give you my full support—whether that’s through training, prayer, guidance, or just being there as a friend. We’re in this together, and I want to see you grow and thrive in your role.

Take some time—about a week—to pray about this commitment before making your decision. I want you to feel sure in your heart that this is where God is leading you.

Along with this, please take a moment to review the Leadership Team Expectations and sign your name if you agree. We set the bar high, but that’s because we’re all accountable to each other. We’re committed not only to our students but to one another as we work toward this shared mission.

Also, please complete the attached Spiritual Gifts Test. It’ll help us understand how best to support and use your unique gifts in this ministry. We want everyone to serve in ways that align with their strengths.

By signing below, you’re agreeing to serve on the Leadership Team of The Attic and to commit for a full year. You’re also agreeing to undergo a background check through Calvary Chapel Stroudsburg as part of our ministry’s safety and accountability practices.

I’m excited to walk alongside you in this journey, and I’m so thankful for your heart to serve. Let’s make a difference together!
